Mask Making
Design a mask for your Xero and write about why they elected to create a mask with that design.
Details

It is said that long ago on the eve of the Reserve’s founding, Alurizans wore long hooded coverings and masks to ward off the Blight’s plague, and their clever disguises are what allowed them to win the war. Generations passed, but the story remained the same: those who donned their costumes were spared by the Blight’s plague, while those who did not fell victim to its hold on the world. These days, it's not known if that is truth or legend, but the tradition continues, and many Alurizans sport varying costumes as they navigate the Carnival grounds.
While costumes can be anything the wearer deems their costume, many are traditional Twilight Carnival costumes that feature long coverings and a mask carved from a lantern fruit’s hard gourd. The mask is usually either an animal — carved from the gourd long-way to produce a snout with carved eye holes that glow — to celebrate life , or a carved skull with bone-like markings to ward off death.
INFORMATION:
This prompt REQUIRES both art and writing.
Consider Alurizan tradition when it comes to the Twilight Carnival. Draw your Xero (or Ziggy or Luca if you do not own one) wearing a mask they carved out of a gourd. Additionally, you must write about why they elected to create a mask with that design. This may either be in the form of a story or a description as to why this design is important to them.
DO:
★ Include both writing and art.
★ Include both the writing and art on one submission.
★ Consider your Xero, who they are, and why they would choose this design. Does it relate to their profession, do they simply enjoy the aesthetic, or is their rationale something deeper?
★ Design a full or half mask that appears to be made out of a gourd, though it can appear to be painted in addition to the carving. Half masks may cover the upper or lower half of the Xero’s face.
Don't:
★ Only draw or write; both are required.
★ Draw your Xero in a Halloween costume or cosplay.
★ Leave the mask plain. The masks should have a design element to them, so they should not resemble a KN-95 or surgical mask.
★ Don't have your own Xero yet? Don't worry, you can draw or write about Ziggy or Luca! You can read all about them on their profiles. You may also ask permission to use another member's Xero in our Discord. However, if you do already own a Xero, you must use your own Xero and may not use the mascots or another user's Xero.
