Woodland Ghost hunt

“Now be careful next time little guy” Zephyr carefully placed a little creature on a branch. It chirped at him “no problem” Zephyr said smiling. He turned around and started climbing a tree using his sticky paws. 

“What's this?” Zephyr had been running around the tree tops for a bit and suddenly spotted something small and glowy. A quick slice of a claw cut the stem of the mysterious plant and he started studying it. “Why have I never seen you before, what kind of fungus are you?” he put the mushroom in his pouch “let’s see if someone in Aberion knows what you are”. 

Zephyr entered the Aberion science lab, “hey I found this weird mushroom, is there someone here that can tell me what it is?”. “Zeph, long time no see, what were you up to?” a tall alien walked in from one of the back rooms. 

“Chrissy, you work here now?”

“It’s just temporary, my team has been spread all around Owai to deal with this invasive mushroom species”

“Hmm is it by any chance, a small blueish glowing mushroom”

She looked confused “yeah, did you see the message from ARC?”

Zephyr pulled the mushroom out of his pouch “I found a bunch of them growing in and around the trees” 

“Shit, that’s bad news” she ran to the computer and started typing, “ARC is looking for volunteers all over Owai to find and collect these fungi, so if you have some time to spare”

Zephyr nodded “you know I’m always ready to protect the forest” 

“Then come back tomorrow morning so you and some other volunteers can go and get as many of those woodland ghosts as possible”

*beep beep beep* It was early in the morning and Zephyr's alarm rang. “time to get ready and collect some ghost shrooms!”. He ran around his small house shoving several things in a bag, 3 small knives, a brush, 2 small foldable bags for mushrooms and of course a water bottle and some snacks. “That should be everything, time to head to the lab”. 

“Chrissy, I’m here!” He walked in but the lab was empty. Zephyr looked around when Chrissy walked in “Am I this early?”. Chrissy laughed “the others should arrive very soon”, the front doors opened “there they are, just on time!”. 

“Hello everyone, welcome and thank you all for coming” Chrissy looked at everyone “Zephyr here will take you to where he found the allusive woodland ghost, so you can all help collect that blasted mushroom”. Everyone nodded in agreement “well if everyone is ready then, Zephyr take the lead”.

“Here we are, I saw them higher up in the trees but I’m sure they're also lower on the ground” Zephyr pointed to the area behind him, “I think that if we split into smaller groups we are able to cover the most ground”. The others agreed, all split into groups and started searching the area. A few Xeros joined Zephyr in the trees to search for more. 

The search was very successful, having not only collected woodland ghosts but also some other species that worked great for a soup. A few members of the group made dinner for everyone while the others counted and stored the woodland ghosts. “Everyone I want to thank you for all your hard work, the ARC lab will be very happy to see all these woodland ghost”, the group nodded while enjoying there soup “very successful indeed”.
