Fenrir's Lantern Fruit
Fenrir woke up from the rising sun shining in his face, he rolled on stretched out and sat up. It was getting colder and the Twilight Carnival was nearing. Every year Fenrir would travel to the Capital City, no matter where he had ended up that year. Fenrir stretched his arms again and crawled out of his sleeping bag “I remember seeing a little lake on my way here” he said to himself while packing his stuff into his backpack. And so he walked back to the lake to take a nice bath before continuing his journey, he was almost there and if everything went according to plan he only needed to travel 2 more days to arrive at the edge of the Capital City. After about half an hour of bathing he got out and shook off his fur “I love a nice bath in the morning to get ready for a day of traveling”. Fenrir talked a lot to himself during his travels, it has become a weird habit and he couldn't stop it. He walked two more days and arrived late at night in the Capital City, he looked around and found a place that still had a room for him. The next morning he decided to go lantern fruit shopping, several Xeros were selling the fruits they’d grown but Fenrir could’t find one to fit his wishes. A dim blue light was shining from one of the smaller alie ways and Fenrir slowly made his way towards it “Yes this is what I was looking for!” he yelled when he saw several big lantern fruits glowing with a beautiful blue light. The Xero behind the stand smiled “all made with love from my own garden” he said, Fenrir nodded and pulled out some items he gathered from his adventures “you want to trade one with me?”. The other Xero laughed and looked at Fenrir's collection and was very interested in a stack of coins “the coins for the big lantern fruit” he said, both of them smiled and so the trade was done. Fenrir walked with his big lantern fruit towards the city center where multiple others were also busy carving beautiful images in lantern fruits of all shapes, colors and sizes. He spotted a nice place and started carving one of his favorite star signs in the fruit. “Thank you for guiding me on my adventures this year” he said when he finished the carving, he carved the stars he had used as a guide for his travels the past year. Every year Fenrir picked one of the many star signs to guide him and when the Twilight festival started he would carve it into his lantern fruit. He held up his fruit and looked around for a nice place to put it to decorate the square and when he spotted a spot he ran towards it and placed it down. The rest of the day he spent looking at the lanterns made by other Xeros and having dinner at a little restaurant. He was ready to celebrate the entire month and couldn’t wait to see and talk with other Xeros about what they’ve done the past year.
