A Wish From Deep Within

The end of the year was drawing near, and the crowds were bustling around the town of B’Haddu, as the town became alive with the cheer of the coming year. Xeros were in groups around the fire sharing stories and catching up on activities they had done all year. Tales of joy, determination, and hope were shared amongst the Xeros, as the tight-knit community began to come together and prepare for the meteor showing coming in the next few hours. The crowd was brimming with anticipation as the night started becoming filled with the chatter of Xeros from all over the town and from elsewhere.

Akira had managed to squeeze herself into the crowd, and even found a comfy little spot with a good view and a nice fire nearby to keep her warm. It wasn’t too hard, she was small and short after all. But on that night in particular she began to feel…lonely. It wasn’t because of her job or the stunts she had pulled this year, far from it. She had no regrets doing any of the things she did obviously, but it was hard to keep friends or even find any romance with the kind of life she chose to live. What lies in the planetary systems nearby? Or even far away? Would there ever be a place for her to fit in, or even find a partner in crime? Such thoughts kept racing about in her head as she sat by the fire and ate.

The lights from the town began to become dimmer as some Xeros announced it would soon be about time for the meteor shower to start. The time of the year was right for a wish, maybe this time if she wished for something she really wanted instead of wishing just for her amusement maybe it could actually come true this time. Just maybe… she could get the shot she was looking for. A shot to find someone right for her and get the motivation to kickstart herself into mainstream djing. She thought on and on as the night went on. She never wanted to give up her life of being mischievous, she just needed someone like her to feel the same rush as her when she went out tagging, the amped up feeling of djing, or even the simple pleasure she was experiencing right now. She loved the joy of being alone, but at a time like this, it weighed heavily on her.

Life just needed to be exciting for her, and she wanted to share that with someone in her life without sacrificing what she loved, and likewise find people who would stick by her side as friends and allow her to express herself to the fullest. Meteors began to fall from the sky as the crowd began to cheer in awe at the falling stars. As the meteors began to fall, Akira looked up at the sky, closed her eyes, and made a genuine wish.

“I want to find someone for me in the new year.”
