A Well-Worn Sleeping Ritual

It was getting late in the Kubai Desert, and the sun was just starting to set. Countless Xeros and were starting to make their way home from their long days of work, performing, and even creating. No matter who you were, the embrace of the night sky and a warm nest when you returned home was enough to make any Xero excited to return home. Well that is, except if your name was Akira, then you were getting ready for a long night of tagging and partying.

Akira had just wrapped up a set for the night, the crowd still electric with hype from her performance. The show had sold out again, she was starting to get the hang of putting on a show stopping performance night after night. Though as she was walking out and back to her cave, she suddenly remembered she needed something for her sleep. “Aw shoot… I need more candles and pillows! They just don’t feel the same and I really don’t think I can be comfy without em’.” She thought to herself. With a kick she began to run on all fours to the nearest candle shop to get some items for the night.

It didn’t take long for Akira to reach the shop, it was only about a 15 minute sprint from where she was standing previously, and she had made it just in time which was 10 minutes before closing. She stood back up on two legs and made her way in. She started hunting for very specific candle scents, fragrant, but not too strong. Afterwards, she went to the pillow section and got some cute boolew-shaped pillows as well as a couple of plushies. After double and even triple checking to make sure she had everything, she made her way out of the shop with everything she bought in her bag and in her pouch. 

The night was getting even darker, Akira was making her way through the desert to the cave where she lived. It was a bit of a walk and since it was so far from the city, they needed to take out one of the glowsticks they had in order to light the way over to the cave. “Ugh… this is really better help me sleep better, these past few nights really haven’t been treating me well at all.” Akira thought to herself as she made her way inside the cave. As soon as she put all of her stuff away, she began to set out the candles and add the pillows and plushies to the pile she had near and on her bed. After making sure everything was in place she lit the candles, put on some chill music she had mixed in her free time, and layed down in her bed and curled up with a blanket over her.

As she drifted into sleep, her last thoughts before fully falling asleep were about how much things have changed since she was abandoned here, and she was glad she had some comfort now, even in the cold desert nights. Things are looking up for her.
