A walk in the forest

It was a sunny day when Patch opened his eyes. He still was thinking about the dream he had, not sure about the content but more about the feeling he got. It was a warm fuzz feeling and he loved waking up to this. After debating with himself if he should turn around and sleep again or not, he decided to get up and getting ready for a day out in the forest.

He packed his lunchbox and grabbed a basket for, hopefully, finding some mushrooms. He smiled while thinking what mushrooms he will find and how lovely the walk through the leaf covered forest floor it would be. He loved autumn, it was his favourite season. Everything turns into beautiful warm colours and a good reason to stay in his cosy armchair with a fluffy blanked and a hot chocolate or a cup of tea. But not today, he grabbed his scarf on the way out the door and inhaled the cold autumn air. With a bounce in his step, he walked through the rustling leaves.

When he got to the edge of the forest, the sun was fully up. The forest was very inviting, and he knew it well, having loved to play there since he was a child. As he wanders deeper into the forest, he found acorns and decided to collect a bunch to use them for cooking and decoration. He already knows some delicious recipes and cannot wait to try them when he has time to cook.

After an hour of strolling through the forest Patch arrived at a glade and decided to have his lunch. He found a moss covered stone to sit on, he covered it with his blanket to make it even softer and there he started to munch on his snacks. As he enjoyed his lunch a little birdlike creature joined him. He shared some crumbs from his lunch with that little thing and got a thankful chirp when it flew off again. Patch got up and started looking for mushrooms.

After some searching, he found a bunch of Sunny Agaric and Amber Shelf which look very tasty even uncooked. He also found a bag full of acorns and some Jellystar Tremella which he planned to cultivate for its cute starlike appearance and the tasty fruity flavour. He was quite happy with the stuff he could gather and decided to make a detour before he’s heading back home.

On his way back he met his friend Taffy and stopped for a little chat. They talked about the Carnival time and how much they enjoyed carving the lantern fruits. Patch and Taffy chatted for some time when Patch remembered that he wanted to go to the market before it closed for the day. Before he left, he invited taffy to have dinner together to enjoy the mushrooms together.

He bought some vegetables and some fresh meats from the market. As he arrived back home, he put everything away and put the tea kettle on the stove. After a long day outside there's nothing better than a cup of tea and a good book.
