Once a field medic, Basil was on call and ready to join expedition teams onto wherever they might be headed. Danger was no problem to him and chaos is where he thrived. Joining any team trekking into the unknown gave him a chance to explore the universe and worlds with them while being able to help in his own ways, ready and on standby when things got dicey.
Unfortunately no creature is immune to harm and chasing danger and adventure caught up to even him. One bad trek through the deserts, facing too harsh of weather nobody was prepared for left him and most his team facing a fall clifside in a sandstorm with serious injuries all around.
Since then, Basil doesn't adventure much anymore and has instead taken to a 'slower' lifestyle in the heart of Habor. He's a bit slower now, his leg gives him trouble and most notably is the permament 'kink' in his tail, broken and healed improperly.

He's taken to a life as a regular physician but anyone who talks to him can see he misses a life of adventure and exploration. If you ask him however, he'll say he'd only slow others down and would only be a nuicanse and a hinderance on any mission he'd go on. While he doesn't say it, he blames himself for not being able to help more during the incident even if nobody ended up seriously injured or worse, he doesn't trust himself or his abilities as much as he used to anymore.
He can still be convinced out on milder expeditions however, not that it's hard to convince him, while the busy bustling life in Harbor is fine and keeps him occupied, he still wants more and readily jumps at the chance for it despite his insistence that lifestyle is behind him.

Even getting him out and back on adventures however, Basil is always happiest when Sissel can join the team and while he loves a life out in the stars, he loves a life at home with Sissel more. Fortunately Sissel shares his need for chaos and adventure and for better or for worse they egg each other on in the best(or worst) of ways. Evey so often however they can both be found not in busy Harbor but taking quiet weeks away to Sissel's secondary residence in Zae'ka. A break from the busy world where they both settle down for tea, some writing and time to just them.
