[Wish] Rancher's Goals!
After Rancher came out of the dark and scary lab, he was having trouble finding work; finding places to sleep in Harbor a few nights here, hanging out in the jungle a couple nights there, but never really finding his place in the world in which he was thrust into. Nothing really interested the scraggly fella- he tried everything from washing dishes at the restaurants around Harbor to putting together boats on the dock in Torini. He finally settled on a farm that was located in the Jurupa Forest in the Aberion region, tilling the soil, helping with the livestock when needed, and picking all types of fruits and vegetables that are used by the citizens of the Aluriza Reserve. These include things such as prehensile tail fruits, ru berries, and horn fruits. It wasn’t much, but it was hard work and he enjoyed keeping himself busy during the week so he could go out to Harbor on the weekends and meet with friends that he had made over time.
It wasn’t until one night in the Harbor region that he found his true calling- music. Rancher was amazed by the way the guitarist filled the air with charisma, the way the drummer made beats from seemingly out of nowhere and carried the rest of the band, the way the singer put their whole heart and soul into songs, and the way the bassist made the floor vibrate. The thought of being part of a group that was able to make whatever vibe they desired in any atmosphere was something that struck home with Rancher. He had to make the world he lived in his own, something he had been striving to do for the last few years. With music, he felt like he could make the citizens of the Aluriza Reserve feel good things, things that made them want to walk on water, things that made them feel like they were floating through the galaxy.
Shortly after that show in Harbor, Rancher saved up all of the United-Systems Ducat (USD) he could in order to buy himself a bass guitar. He found one for pretty cheap in a shop down by the sea in the Torini region, and began to take lessons from a guy that his weirdly-charismatic friend Spitz had recommended up in Harbor. His favorite songs to play were old jazz songs- ones that you could really feel the notes coming from the heart of the musician. He had been able to salvage tapes of Ron Carter and Paul Chambers from a distant planet simply called “Earth,” a planet that had long been destroyed by the people that lived on it many eons ago. Rancher would stay up until the early hours of the chilly mornings in the Jurupa Forest practicing and following along with the musicians.
Rancher’s main goal is to eventually move up to Harbor and establish himself there as a bassist. He has performed for his friends and in front of crowds at the small clubs all over Harbor.
