Sildras are squishy, amoeba-like creatures that dwell on the bottom of the ocean’s floor. Sildras appear slightly translucent underneath light and have antennae running from their head to their spine as well as 4 whiskers that act as an extra set of eyes. The squishy creatures come in various colors depending on their surroundings, mostly ranging from light greens to deep purple-blues. Scientists have discovered that the darker the hue, the deeper the sildra dwelled. (Light green means that the sildra had dwelled closer to the surface or in shallow water, while the dark purple-blue sildras dwell in deeper waters.) Sildras’ skin is smooth to the touch, with rougher skin on the tips of their fins that allow them to climb and crawl with ease. Sildras have 3 holes along their sides that allow them to absorb sunlight and go through a process similar to photosynthesis. This process it called Silosynith (Sill-o-sin-ith), where a sildra absorbs the sunlight through their holes and converts it to energy and food. Silosynith also changes the hue of a sildra, hence why deeper dwelling sildras are darker in color.
Sildras also have patches of skin in which sunlight is stored, resulting in a glowing, bioluminescence appearance. These patches can be found anywhere on the body, but are commonly seen on the tips on their antenna, around their holes, and on the tips of their fins.
