It was a particularly dark and stormy night that night,  nobody was around on the streets of Harbor that day, and everyone was taking shelter either at their homes or over at the ARC lab. The routing was the same as normal every night, which was to make sure every egg was accounted for and that a more special unusual egg was to stay extra safe.

The egg was to be that of a desert Xero’s. Their function was to be an explorer and a researcher, who always did the right thing for the environment. They could make several breakthroughs and even could have the chance to become a Xero remembered by all for generations! However, such dreams would never come to pass as a massive bolt of lightning was hurled from the sky and the power flickered out. It was only for a few minutes, but an optimistic figure in the shadows saw their chance.

It was only a few minutes, a few minutes! And the orb was now gone. Everyone in the lab was scrambling around trying to catch the perpetrator, but their efforts were in vain, as they dashed as fast as they could and made off with the orb. Alerts went off all around Harbor, as everyone did their best to stop the vehicle they were escaping in. Some got close, and roadspikes almost worked, but it was all in vain. The orb and its captors had fled the Harbor.

The orb was taken from ARC, and its original purpose was now gone, and who knew what the thieves had in store for the poor Xero? It would emerge in such a hostile environment, and maybe even be engineered into a threat! As such thoughts were racing through the heads of the researchers, the thieves were celebrating pilfering such a rare egg from right under the noses of ARC. The thieves had been planning this for months, and with the huge thunderstorm it was the perfect opportunity to strike.  Some time had passed, and it was now morning. They had made their way to the desert by now, and the orb had shown some signs of hatching soon. Wanting to get ready, the thieves wanted to take a break from being on the road for so long. But as the door opened, the orb as well as a generous amount of water and food rolled out of the now open door, tumbling down the hills and dunes of the desert, and straight into a small, hollow cave.

The orb was all by itself now, nice and safe inside the cave. It was warm and cozy with the afternoon sun. The orb shook more and more, faster and faster until a baby Xero emerged from it. It had no idea where it was, all it knew was it was alone in a cave, and all it had to eat and drink was what was there with them. Weeks passed, and the Xero gradually became accustomed to living in the wilderness, and it soon even started learning how to read and write and it named itself Akira. Now that it was older, it caught sight of B’Haddu, and decided to venture there and just maybe, find somewhere to call home.
