Tablet Log 001 - TIDIX-C ||

Inoru

Inoru are territorial, ambush predators found on Tidix-C ||. Inoru are segmented animals with 4 main limbs; One rear limb is specialized into a large, hooked claw that allows the animal to ensnare prey and incapacitate it. Inoru have excellent camouflage given the shallow, tropical waters they reside in; mimicking rocky coral vegetation with the growths present on their dorsal side. These small 10-12 inch predators hide below the sand and use their photo sensitive eye to scout the surrounding waters above for potential prey. During the night on Tidix-C || they use bioluminescent tentacles to attract prey and line up the unsuspecting for a fatal blow from their modified claw. When challenged by a fellow Inoru a hostile fight will break out. Inoru will use their powerful jaws to attempt to crunch the opponents exoskeleton. Their claws lock as a defense to thwart the attackers attempts. If the attack is successful the loser will retreat. Inoru that lose their claws fate is sealed with Death himself.

Inoru’s lifespan is fairly short. They molt constantly and are particularly vulnerable when molting. Inoru have high metabolisms that lead them to spend most of their life hunting, however in order to conserve energy they are stationary for long periods as they attract prey. Their stamina is not particularly impressive and if they gave chase, prey would still escape easily. They are more formed for quick, short attacks. The Inoru has a set of decurrent gills that run down to the vernal side of its body. These gills glow with the help of symbiosis this animal shares with its microbiome. It is to be noted, Inoru seem to glow from the inside out, the exoskeleton acting like defensive plates, one over another, to protect a softer creature inside.

The only time two Inoru will share one reef is when mating. After copulation, females migrate to lay eggs in the shallowest areas of Tidix-C ||’s oceans. The eggs of Inoru are incased in a hard transparent shell. This shell is the first things juveniles eat and is very nutritious. A mother Inoru will protect the brood with her life, often luring and hunting creatures that would otherwise eat the eggs.

This concludes observations thus far.
