[Survey] To the Lost Ones
Ziggy let out a relaxed sigh, settling down into the worn cushions of his favorite armchair. He set his cup of ru berry tea on the side table, next to his carefully arranged stack of stationary and stamps. This month, he had picked out envelopes with an adorable dyno beeble print- he hoped the recipients would appreciate them as much as he did.
He opened the drawer to the table and pulled out a wrinkled stack of papers, each adorned with a list of names, addresses, and multiple scribbled notes.
"Let's see... Who haven't I checked in with lately..." Ziggy mused, eyes scanning the papers.
Each name lit a flame of memory in his mind.
Asher; the young xero who struggled to find his place in life, but was finally able to settle as an artist's apprentice in B'haddu at Ziggy’s recommendation.
Callista; a xero who traveled aimlessly for years until finding her home at the calming Torini seaside boardwalks.
Kieran; a mysterious xero haunted by an even more mysterious past, who stayed recluse in the Jurupa forest...
Countless names and connections flickered through Ziggy's head. He leaned heavily against the armrest, taking a quick sip of tea.
In his days as an ambassador, he'd seen thousands of faces come in and out of his life. However, some of his encounters left a strong pull on his heart- mainly xeros who have struggled to mesh with their new existence. Owai-6 has offered xeros a fresh lease on life, but a new home will always bring unique challenges. Feelings of isolation, lack of connection, social fear... Everything around them was bright and welcoming, but sometimes a warm glow can cast unforeseen shadows on the heart.
Part of Ziggy felt guilty for how easily he had settled into this cozy armchair of a world, while so many other xeros struggled to make a foothold.
Leaning over to his stationary, Ziggy picked up his pen and tapped it to his chin, quickly deciding on his first recipient.
Dear Kieran,
I hope this letter finds you well.
