[Survey] Ziggy's Garden
Ziggy had finally wrapped up his last work task for the day and was making his way through Harbor to return home, when he looked around and realized that his favorite season of the year, spring, was finally here. All around him, the green had spread through the city, almost like a virus, taking over everything it could. Vines crept over any surface they could cling onto, colorful flowers were just starting to bloom and the sweet scent of nectar filled the air. He took a deep breath in and just as he was exhaling, a small swarm of insects flew past his ear and startled him. He instincitvely tried to swat them away, before trying to get a a better look. They were one of Owai's many pollinators, although it seemed to be a rarer, less studied species.
'Man, I can't believe how time flies,' he thought, smiling to himself. 'It's already that time again! I'll need to make one more stop before heading home then'.
His stop, a small shop specializing in rare seeds, wasn't far from his current location and he quickly made it to his destination. He pushed open the door and was greeted by the almost overly sweet scent of all the different types of flora.
"Hey, Ziggy! I was wondering when you'd stop by!" said the shopkeeper cheerily.
"Oh, you know me," he replied, approaching the counter the shopkeeper was behind as he looked around in awe. "I'm almost always caught up in my work and forget to look up every once in a while."
"Ah, no worries. I understand how easy it can be to lose track of time doing something you love. Speaking of something you love, I have some things I think you'll love that just came in a few days ago," said the shopkeeper excitedly.
The shopkeeper turned around and input a passcode into a panel, next to a small door. The door quickly slid open and he beckoned at Ziggy to join him. Ziggy made his way around the counter and followed the shopkeeper through the door, gasping in shock at what he saw. A whole room of ru berry plants stood before him.
"Now, how in the world-," he started to exclaim in awe before the shopkeeper cut him off.
"Let's just say I got lucky picking straws this year and well...here we are." The shopkeeper smiled. "I know they're your favorite, so please. Take some home with you."
"Wait...but...I...huh?!" Ziggy questioned. "Are you sure? I'm not even sure what I would do with them!"
"Well, plant them, of course!" the shopkeeper said, laughing. "They're not too complicated to take care of. Not anymore difficult than what you normally grow."
"I'd be a fool to turn your down," Ziggy said before picking up a few of the small plants and transferring them to a tray he could carry them in. He made his way back to the main room of the shop and placed a few more plants into the tray and grabbed a few packets of seeds. The shopkeeper told him his total, a handful of prestige, and he continued his journey home, smiling, and almost skipping in delight from his newly aquired plants.
As soon as he got home, he quickly made his way through his house and out into his backyard, where there was already a small area of ground, surrounded by a few trees, that he had tilled and prepared for planting. It was the perfect size for him, just big enough so that it would only require a small amount of time throughout the week to maintain. He placed the carrier tray onto the ground, grabbed his shovel out of his pouch, and made quick work of digging holes to plant his seeds and small plants. Once all the holes were dug, he planted the ru berries first, followed by his other various plants and seeds, kara berries, and magma peppers, just to name a couple. Once he was finished planting, he stepped back and admired his work. 'i can't wait to have fresh ru berry juice whenever I want!' he thought, as he made his way back inside to grab his watering can. Ziggy promptly watered his new garden, taking extra care with the ru berries, and headed back inside, just as the daylight began to fade. He hummed quietly as he made himself a cup of tea and settled into his favorite chair with a book, one about all the different ways to prepare ru berries, while occasionally glancing outside at his newly planted garden in delight.
