[Survey] Unplanned Excursion

Being stranded here was not my idea of what I would be doing today but it seems like that is what is happening today. I was venturing out to explore more of the Earle Sea and my poor vessel got damaged by the rocks. I was able to gentilly crash into a small island.

I will be able to contact others for help once my communicator charges but for now, I’m stuck. I have all of my exploring and camping gear so I will be fine. I also have all of my drawing supplies and my sketchpad didn’t get wet so I have plenty to do. It didn’t take me too long to set up camp and I made a help sign out of driftwood so if my communicator isn’t working I have a backup. I think I might have a flare in my bag but I’m not sure if there is anyone else around to see it. I will just have to check my communicator in a bit.

I found a beautiful piece of Quartz when I was looking for driftwood. I had to sketch it in my sketchbook. The colors are absolutely gorgeous, although I think I might be a bit biased about that haha. I found a few other trinkets including a small comet cluster! This is fun, although I wished I had charged my communicator more before I left.

My original plan was to study the creatures of the Earle Sea but I feel like it might not be good to be stuck in the ocean if I end up having difficulty getting help. I decided to stay in the area inland, although I don’t want to stray too far away from my camp. I might have to come back at a later time to see what else lives here. I was able to see a boolew when I was dragging my stuff to shore but I haven’t seen anything more than a few tracks of some other creatures. I took some notes in my research notebook but I would like to explore inland at some point in the future.

I was able to contact HQ, but it might be a bit before I get home. It could have been a lot worse but this execution was pretty fun! It pays to be prepared, but I need to figure out how to get here without crashing into some rocks. I marked this location coordinated into my map and will hopefully plan to come here under better circumstances.

As I write this I get to see one of the most beautiful sunsets over the Earle Sea. The warm reds and oranges melting into the sea look astonishing and I’m trying to capture this beauty. There are few golden clouds streaking the sky but it’s mostly a clear evening. I’m glad that I got to see it. Maybe I will plan a night excursion to look at the stars, although I should bring someone along.
