[Survey] A dress for the Twilight Carnival

The bell rang as another happy customer left Hatters shop, he looked outside and noticed the streetlights turning on. ‘Oh is it that late already? I completely forgot the time’, he started cleaning up and right when he wanted to close for the day a Xero walked inside. ‘Hello, I'm sorry are you still open?’ Hatter nodded enthusiastically ‘always my dear, how can I help you? Are you looking for a hat? Maybe a beret or a hightop although I would recommend something more like an ivy cap, kepi hat or… he grabbed a light blue fedora, something like this!’. The Xero smiled, ‘although I love myself a good hat, I'm looking for something special, a nice dress to celebrate the Twilight Carnival!’. Hatter looked at them and pulled a measuring tape out of his pouch ‘well then, do you have any ideas of what you want your new dress to look like?’.

They talked a bit about what the Xero had in mind for the dress and about the Twilight Carnival while Hatter took their measurements. He had a stand at the market a few times but had decided not to this year, maybe he would go and check out what the others were selling or maybe he would just enjoy the view of all the beautiful lanterns decorating Harbor. The Xero talked about how they loved all the lights as well and how they had a crush on this other guy and they wanted to impress him with this new dress. Hatter smiled ‘ah love, isn't it just beautiful, stunning, amazing dare I say even a little bit curious?’.

He had taken all measurements and promised the dress would be ready for pickup tomorrow morning. Hatter had a passion for hat making, for sure it was what he had loved doing all his life, finding the perfect hat for everyone's head. But throughout the years he had started to use his skills with fabrics and a sewing machine to create other items, mostly only on request but who knows someday you would walk past his store to see the outfit of your dreams just laying there. He wasn't really for fashion and trends and preferred following his own rules but those who chose him never walked out dissatisfied and always got exactly what they wanted and more.

‘Lights! 'That is!’ he yelled while drawing the dress design, ‘the one thing everyone thinks about with the Twilight Carnival is the beautiful lights all across Arez!’ He rummaged through some boxes ‘not only do the carved lanterns shine bright but so do the lights on the fair attractions, or the string lights hanging on the market stalls’. He spent all night working on the dress making sure it would not only be a perfect fit but also to get the lights working and of course doing everything to impress this “guy” the Xero had mentioned to have a crush on.

The sun just started to rise and Hatter just finished putting on the final touches like a small golden H stitched in the back of the neck like a signature on a piece of art when the Xero walked in. ‘Hatter I…’ a teardrop appeared in their eye ‘I don't know what to say’ he smiled and spun the manikin around. ‘It is perfect, beautiful, absolutely stunning! thank you so much!’
