[Survey] New Year's Resolution
Fleet sighed as he stared down at the picture in his hand. It was always around this time of year that he got thinking about this stuff. Didn't help that he stubbornly decided to keep the picture despite it being so long since it was taken. With another sigh he put the photo face down on a nearby table. Looking at it would only make him more upset. He knew that, yet he still couldn't stop himself from stealing a look every once in a while. Shaking his head he went to lean on a nearby windowsill, looking out at the forest around him. How long had it been? Honestly Fleet had lost count, after a while it just got depressing to keep track. It had been too long though, that was easy enough to admit. As much as he didn't want to admit it things had been sort of lonely. He was never much of a people person but he'd grown used to a sort of constant companionship. It hurt all the more when it was suddenly gone because of that.
Fleet closed his eyes. Maybe he really should try to socialize more like he'd suggested... He opened his eyes again, ears drooping. Easier said than done. He wasn't the most personable xero out there and that was off putting to a lot of people. Well if one had been willing to put up with him, maybe there were more. His eyes briefly flicked over to the face down photo. Even if that one had felt like a one in a million chance. He let his gaze travel up to what part of the sky was visible through the trees. Well maybe he should try and make a resolution. It was the new year and even if he never really cared about the importance of the new year or anything maybe just this once he'd try.
"I... don't actually know how this works." Fleet huffed, tail tapping on the ground. "Do I just... say the thing I wanna do and that's it?" He frowned. "That seems dumb." He tapped a paw on the windowsill before groaning and forcing himself to remain still. "Alright screw it, I'm going with that. I'll just... say my resolution out loud to the universe and I guess... work to make it a thing." He just stared out the window for a while longer. What did he want? Ok well he knew what he really wanted but that wasn't exactly something possible. What did he want that was possible though? "I guess..." He tilted his head back in some sort of embarrassment, even though he was the only one there. "My resolution would be to stop being such a recluse and try and make some friends?" He cringed a little bit as he relaxed his head. "Alright yeah that sounds really sad when I sad it out loud." He sighed. "I'm sure there's at least one other person out there that can put up with me. Plus I have a whole year to find them. I can do this." He glanced over at the photo again. "I know the first time was by chance but..." He shook himself before pushing off of the windowsill. "I'm sure with me actively trying this'll be a breeze." He gave the empty room a cocky smirk. The lack of any feedback pretty quickly dimmed his mood again.
He leaned back against the windowsill, slight frown on his face. He stayed there for a while, not really looking but just existing. "Maybe I also have one more resolution." Fleet quietly said. Of course there was no answer, but he wasn't expecting one. "One that might be impossible but hey, it's worth a try." He drummed his claws. "I want to find him. Figure out where he's been and what happened." He looked down. "I really miss him." With that he pushed away from the windowsill again. It was late, he should get some sleep. He took one last glance at the face down photo. "Happy new year." He spoke quietly before leaving the room.
Fleet finds himself alone for the new year and decides to make a resolution for once.
