[Survey] Beach day
The sun started peaking through her bedroom window as Daphne slowly got out of bed, normally she would have been up already but today the Inkwell Café was closed and she had the day off. As always she started the day with cornflakes, fresh fruit and yogurt while watching the news on tv. The weather forecast was great, especially since she had planned to visit Torini and enjoy a fun beach day, sunny all day and zero percent chance of rain.
She had collected all her stuff in a small bag and made her way to the train station. As she walked past the bakery the owner waved at her, ‘Good Morning Daphne! having a day off I see?’. She smiled and walked inside ‘yeah, it's been a bit since the last time!’ the baker started grabbing a small pastry from a fridge behind him, ‘you should take a day more often, you deserve it’. ‘I know, but I love my work at the café so much and the people always bring me lots of joy!’ her tail wagged as she talked with passion about her little café. The baker then handed Daphne the pastry in a small paper bag, ‘here this is for you, enjoy your day’. She thanked him and they said their goodbyes as she continued her walk to the train station.
The train ride wasn't too long and she loved the view of the beautiful landscapes of Owai-6. First she'd go to the torini library and check if there were any nice books she could borrow, then she'd go to the beach.
‘Daphne, long time no see!’ the librarian waved as she walked in, ‘too long if you asked me’. Daphne waved back and walked towards her, ‘any recommendations for a good read on the beach?’. The librarian scratched her chin and started walking to one of the furthest sections of the library, ‘this is a good one, quite a new book from a small and not well known writer but definitely worth every second of the read’. It wasn't a very thick book, maybe 250 pages but it had a really pretty cover, white with brown branches and red roses and the title of the book in golden letters. ‘I’ll take it, you always recommend the best books so I trust that this will keep me busy today!’ Daphne put the book in her bag, careful not to squish the little pastry. The librarian and her catched up for a while longer talking about how the library was doing and how the café was still successful, they also talked about possibly putting some new books on the shelves at the Inkwell to replace some of the older damaged books that were just collecting dust.
After she'd said goodbye to the librarian she'd made her way to one of the calmer spots at the Torini beach. There she put down a large beach towel, put down her bag and took out the book and the pastry and took a seat looking at the beautiful blue water flowing back and forth on the light colored sand.
The Inkwell Café is closed today and Daphne enjoys her first day off in a long time.
