The Duality of Art

Toxin's mask represents his artistic nature and maybe his mischievous nature slips through a bit! The mask has been painted carefully with his favorite paints and carved to be as smooth and consistent as possible. He chose this mask because of his draw to all things artistic, the comedy and tragedy mask represents the oldest duality in theatre that Toxin could think of. The tragedy side of the mask has been detailed to have tear streaks in Toxin’s favorite paint which is made from the toxic goo that drips from his skin in certain places and the mask has a sort of dull weathered look to create a feeling of a long deep sadness. The comedy side of the mask has a paint splatter created from the same paints as the tear streaks on the tragedy side of the mask and a bright orangey under glow which encapsulates the feeling of a deep sense of joy. The paint being used to create the tear streaks and the paint splatter create a sense of chaos in the mask which conveys Toxin’s mischievous and messy nature but also the messiness and fun of art itself.
