Massive Jungles
On his way back home Fenrir used the notes he got from Hatter to decode the notebook he had found in the metal box. He learned that there were two more crystals and that somehow collecting all three would be the next step to finding the lost city of Delphthys. Some parts of the notebook where still vague and it was full of weird riddles that might help uncover more hints towards the lost city but for now he had figured out where his next destination would be, or at least roughly since it was located somewhere on the planet Kiah, a planet that used to be covered in vast rainforest but suffered from Blight. Aluriza had run several restoration projects over there to help the planet. He would probably be able to hitch a lift on one of the ships traveling to a research station.
He probably should have made a stop at the Crimson Cove to get some new supplies but halfway back to Owai-6 he ran across a small cargo ship that was bringing supplies to the research crews on Kiah and he managed to convince the captain to let him hop on the ship if he helped out the crew. The days were long and the work was hard but Fenrir knew that they were getting pretty close to the big jungle planet. One night he sent a message to Bast, a Xero that had made several trips to Kiah in the past to help out with wildlife preservation. He asked her if she had heard of any strange structures or places on Kiah that had been discovered during the blight, but sadly she could only refer him to a research center she had visited when there.
A Korso greeted him when he walked inside ‘you must be Fenrir, Bast told me you’d visit’ Fenrir looked a bit shocked but quickly recovered ‘I didn’t know she messaged but yeah I’m on… well you could call it a treasure hunt basically’. The Korso smiled ‘interesting, I would love to hear some more about it. If you’d follow me to my office we can talk and maybe we can help eachother out. They entered a small corner office, the inside was clean and organized but it almost looked like it was done recently. ‘Oh pardon me’ the Korso suddenly exclaimed, ‘I completely forgot to introduce myself’ He stook out his hand towards Fenrir.
‘My name is Belreak, and I’m the assistant researcher and passionate archeologist’
‘Archeologist? What is an archeologist doing on a project about rainforest preservation?’
‘I use my skills not just to find things from far in the past but also more recent things like the origin of the blight’
Fenrir nodded and Belreak continued talking.
‘Bast told me you were looking for structures and something about a symbol?’
‘That’s correct, I’ve been all around the galaxy already tracking down the location of the lost city of Delphthys. Recently I ran into an underground bunker with some useful information and a symbol that I later found in the deserts of Magua G8V’
Belreak blinked a few times and it got so quiet you could hear a pin drop…
‘Delphthys? and you went to Magua G8V?’ He scratched his head and continued.
‘That surely is interesting, do you by any chance have a picture of that symbol you talked about?’
Fenrir grabbed a sketch from his bag and showed it to Belreak who quickly started studying it and began typing on his computer. It took a bit and Fenrir was just looking around the office looking for anything interesting. ‘Ah right here, it's not a structure but I know I’ve seen this symbol before’, Belreak turned around the screen and showed an image of a group of dead trees with the symbol carved into the center one. ‘In the file it says that the researchers found a small metal box buried near it, which is currently kept in storage’.
After they made their way to the storage facility they quickly got their hand on the box and when Fenrir opened it, there was a vermillion crystal and another sheet of paper with coded text on it. ‘Can you read that?’ Fenrir nodded, ‘well a friend of mine wrote down the description key to help decode it’.
Belreak arranged for Fenrir to join the next flight back to Owai-6 and for him to stay at one of the guest rooms in the research facility. ‘Well Fenrir it was very nice to meet you and if you ever manage to actually find Delphthys please let me know’ Belreak waved as Fenrir entered the ship, ‘Likewise and will do, thanks again Belreak!’.
