[Survey] A trip with Pirates

Several weeks had gone by after Fenrir arrived back at the Crimson Cove, with the big party at ARC happening but also to talk to Avi and Levi about all the recent discoveries and what they would do if they actually found the location of Delphthys. Rumors where the city was somewhere deep into an ocean on Owai-6 so Avi had instantly volunteered to join Fenrir if it turned out to actually be true. Levi also enthusiastically yelled he’d come with, arguing that his marine fins would make him perfect to join. However both Fenrir and Avi agreed that this was a bad idea and his parents would very likely not allow him to go on a possibly dangerous trip like that. They of course also worked on translating the note Fenrir brought home from Kiah. Turns out the location of the third gem and final notebook was located on the frozen planet of Glazun, in a cave somewhere on the highest mountain.

Getting ready for the trip definitely wasn’t easy, the permafrost on the planet would even be considered dangerously cold for the Tundra Xeros. But the hardest thing was finding a guide and a way to even get there. Since there’s not a lot of outposts on the planet and there’s rarely a supply ship that travels from Owai-6 to Glazun he had to ask around all of his sources to find someone able to get him there. Fenrir usually manages to find a trade ship or some kind of transport to get him to where he needs to be, usually even for free in exchange for some manual labor on the ships. This time however he found a group of pirates willing to bring him, if he paid them well enough. It was risky since you could never really know if the pirates were going to keep their word or just take your money and run but a friend of Cronus swore to him that even though the people were pirates they were an honest bunch that kept their word.

He didn’t pack a lot of things, just the clothes to keep warm, the gear to climb a mountain and a notebook containing some notes and the estimated location of the last gem all written in code. If the pirates did betray him at least he wouldn’t lose too much stuff. Fenrir had talked to the captain and they decided that Fenrir would first use a trash transporter to get to a planet just outside of Arez where they would pick him up to stay out of the hands of the Arez police. It was an average sized ship and looked like a classical pirate ship you see in pictures. A big wooden structure with giant masts, the sails weren’t made of fabric however but some kind of technical honeycomb patterned grid. The ship was surrounded by a type of shield to create a bubble of breathable air. One of the deck hands brought him to a small cabin, told him to stay there and not snoop around too much. He felt a bit uneasy but decided to just listen and accept the demands, if they’d want to see him they’d call for him.

The trip lasted a few days, where Fenrir mostly spent his time in the cabin. A deckhand would get him during dinner time and then he got escorted back to the cabin after. They did get him for game nights as well and the crew seemed really nice and he had a fun time joining their games but they kept quiet about what they did on the ship and stayed very secretive.

As promised they dropped him off at a small outpost, where he’d need to message the guide he managed to get that was waiting in a nearby bigger settlement. When the guide received the message Fenrir had arrived he just needed to wait for him to arrive and make the dreaded trip to the highest mountain of Glazun.

part 8
Previous part: 'Massive Jungles
First part: 'Old mysteries, New adventures'

To get to his next location Fenrir can't use his regular travel method of tourist or supplier ships, he has to get help of a gang of pirates. It for sure is a risky ride, will they actually bring him to his destination or will they take all his belongings and drop him on the nearest moon?
