Content Warnings

Sometimes, users of the Project Xero community may choose to create a design that others may find visually uncomfortable or upsetting. By reading this guide, we hope that users may have a better understanding of what is and is not able to be shown in designs or on the masterlist.

There are many types of phobias, both broad and specific, and we cannot possibly censor all of them. As our community grows, the types of content warnings we censor may change over time, and we ask our users to please be mindful and patient. Additionally, please do not use inflammatory language against staff if a design is deemed "Content Warning" worthy or not.

If you wish to change your design on creation, trait items (such as glitch vials) are able to be refunded for currency if the item was purchased by the user. Items obtained through trading will not be refunded for currency.

Xeros that have a Content Warning tag are not eligible for Xero of the Month.
Please be aware of this when creating your Xero.

Design Elements that will not be censored*

Scars, birthmarks, amputations (with our without prosthetic limbs), medical equipment (such as hearing aids, canes, et cetera), minor injuries (scratches, nosebleeds, and flecks/stains of blood), bones/skulls as decoration or accessory, bone markings/patterns on fur and skin, most use of the glitch traits diaphonized, mushroom growth, or eye stalks as well as most instances of aposematic and bioluminescent trait use.

Prosthetic limbs must have some amount of realism, and cannot mimic objects such as bird wings or weapons. The overall shape of your character must stay as a Xero, and removing limbs to create the desired shape (such as removing legs and adding a prosthetic "mermaid tail") is not allowed. The use of prosthetics to make a fully inorganic Xero is not allowed. A Xero's head will never count as an "amputation" and will be rejected. Exposed bones will be rejected. If you would like to submit an idea to staff, please do so in the Discord in the appropriate MYO Design Channel or a Ticket.

✔️ Single/Double Prosthetic Limb ❌ Fully Prosthetic "Robot" Xero, Prosthetic "Wings" or "Mermaid Tail"
✔️ "Claw" or "Hook" Prosthetic ❌ Weapon (ie. "Cannon") Limb
✔️ Limb Amputation w/ Scars ❌ Amputation of whole/part of  Head, Exposed Bones, Exposed Organs

A good example of a Xero with an acceptable prosthetic limb is X-201.

blind/low vision xeros

If you would like your Xero to have a blind, low vision, or a missing eye, you are not required to purchase any trait items. The eye must follow the same colour as the other, in a muted tone. Alternatively, the eye may be gray or cloudy.

If your Xero is missing an eye, the socket may not be open, and must be covered with skin, fur, scarring, or an accessory on the Masterlist.
EXAMPLES OF WHAT IS and IS NOT ALLOWED
2 EYE "TYPES"

This blind eye resembles a Hollow eye too closely; we do not allow dual eye types (eg. 1 "Standard" eye and 1 "Hollow" eye), eyes must follow the species/subspecies trait.

Covered SOCKET

CW: EMPTY EYE SOCKET

We do not allow Xero's to have an empty, open eye socket. If you would like your Xero to lack an eye, you may draw them with skin, fur, scarring, or an accessory covering it.

COLORED BLIND EYES

Both of these eyes are acceptable, however they (and other examples on this page) would need the Bright Pupils trait; the pupils are brighter than the iris!

Design Elements that will be censored

CW: DESIGNS WITH MULTIPLE EYES, NEON COLOURS, AND SPOT CLUSTERS
Examples of multiple eyes on a Xero (3 sets), trypophobia, and "eye strain" design; both of these examples would require a CW.
Some designs/art may require a content warning on both the website and Discord. These may include: Bright "eyestrain" colours, any designs/pattern that depicts and triggers trypophobia (fear of clusters of holes), Any Xero design that is created for the express purpose to cause fear/discomfort ("body horror"), or Xero's using the Extra Body Parts glitch trait to give their Xero more than two sets of eyes.

If your design is censored, your Xero may not be chosen to become Xero of the Month
They are, however, able to participate in any other prompts and events. For cases such as Art Fight or Secret Santa, we ask you please clarify that you have a CW design and we will take appropriate measures. Please always place your Xero under a Spoiler Tag in the Discord community. Multiple purposeful infractions will result in a warning.

Design Elements that are not allowed

Designs including death, heavy gore, banned topics, or hate speech are not allowed in designs or in fanart.
Some design elements are not allowed on the website as gallery art or Masterlist images. Designs depicting realistic death*, heavy gore, extreme violence, firearms, and any design element that may not be considered "PG-13" are not allowed on the Project Xero website.

*Designs of Xeros as cartoonish "zombies" are not included in this rule.

Additionally, any design or artwork depicting banned content listed in the site's terms: perpetuating pedophillia, zoophilia, racism, nazism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and any other hateful remarks are strictly prohibited, and will be met with an immediate ban and void of your characters.

As users, you may explore topics and content others may find uncomfortable that do not break our terms (ie. death or body trauma), but these elements may not be present in a Xero's design or masterlist entry. Art, writing, or other content regarding these elements are unable to be shared in the Discord server and may be removed.

If you are unsure of a design element, please contact a moderator through Discord for clarification!
